Congratulations to HARDA volunteer Fiona Carr for being awarded a highly commended award in the category of Refugee Supporter.

Fiona has been a volunteer for Harda for over 10 years and in that period has been involved in so many projects, including a time spent with Waso Resource and Development (WARDA, our partners) in Garissa, Kenya. However, two current projects managed by Fiona stand out as shining examples of her commitment to help members of the communities who come from refugee background. They are the Employment Mentoring Program for African Migrants, and the Swim /Survive for African- Australian children. These projects have required so much of her time, patience, compassion, understanding and organisation skills to make them successful. When at times it might have been easier to give up for any other person of lesser commitment Fiona persevered, and not only gives her time but also personal support that goes outside the scope of the programs to the community members she deals with.

On behalf of all the members of HARDA, I congratulate Fiona on this well-deserved achievement and her outstanding performance.
